Stacie Wright Obituary Columbia TN, Died After Somerset Lane Shooting

A wave of grief has swept through Columbia, Tennessee, as the community mourns the tragic loss of Stacie Wright, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, who passed away following a devastating shooting on Saturday afternoon.

Stacie, 51 years old, was one of three individuals shot during a violent incident in the 3000 block of Somerset Lane on May 31. According to Columbia Police, officers responded to a 911 call around 3:07 p.m. and discovered three gunshot victims upon arrival.

John Bidle, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene. Stacie was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where doctors fought to save her, but she sadly passed away during surgery. A third, unnamed victim was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police confirmed that a 46-year-old male suspect was taken into custody at the scene. He now faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder, with additional charges possible as the investigation continues. Detectives are actively processing evidence, conducting interviews, and seeking further information.

“The Columbia Police Department extends its thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims and all who were impacted by this tragic incident,” the department said in a statement.

Stacie’s death has deeply affected those who knew her best. Bruno Buchanan, a friend of the Wright family, poured out his heartbreak and disbelief in an emotional tribute:

“Mrs. Wright was my friend. A very, very sweet wife and mother. Please say an open prayer for her husband, son, and daughter! A very sweet family. I’m devastated in my heart… I don’t understand why people use guns to take people’s lives!”

He continued, calling for protection over local families and neighborhoods.

“It’s no longer gang violence we have to be concerned about—it’s the nice neighborhoods where we feel most comfortable and our children run and play. Mrs. Wright was such a sweet woman, man! I don’t get it!”

Bruno’s heartfelt message ended with a powerful prayer for the community and a final message to his friend:

“Stacie, I’m so sorry you are gone way too soon! Love you, ma’am. You were so kind. 💔 In Jesus’ name, AMEN.”

Others who knew her shared their sorrow as well. Bev Sparkman wrote:

“So very sad… prayers for Stacie Wright’s family 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 What a beautiful soul gone too soon… rest easy, Stacie.”

The Grove Park neighborhood, known for its peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere, has been left shaken by the violence. Neighbors describe the area as one where everyone knows each other, shares in the holidays, and watches out for each other’s children.

Stacie Wright’s sudden and senseless death leaves behind a family broken by grief and a community searching for answers. She will be remembered as a gentle, loving presence—a woman who touched lives with her kindness and warmth.
